An inpatient withdrawal management and rehabilitation unit for adult patients with a primary diagnosis of substance use or a substance use disorder which requires medically monitored detoxification and/or treatment is located on the Penn Medicine Presbyterian Hospital Campus in Wright Saunders Building, 4th Floor (commonly referred to as "Wright 4").

The unit, is staffed 24/7 by psychiatrists, registered nursing staff, and substance use counselors and offers both withdrawal management and rehabilitation treatment services.

Types of Treatment

Medication-assisted treatment as well as medication-free options are offered on this unit.

Patients may choose to participate in detoxification services only, or to continue inpatient treatment after detoxification.

Individuals participate in individualized treatment planning including aftercare planning, individual and group therapy, family sessions and coordination with community resources for aftercare.

Length of Treatment

The typical length of treatment for our detoxification services varies due to medical necessity and type of substance. Detoxification services typically last up to 3-7 days, depending on substance and may be extended based on individual treatment. Inpatient rehabilitation services are typically up to 30 days, however length of stay is individualized for each patient depending on their needs and treatment goals.
