Normal Electric Power Shutdown

Sunday April 13th 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Impact on Non-Inpatient floors

Basement through 6th

Except for a few special areas there will be no HVAC & ventilation or electrical power from the basement through the 6th floor. These non-inpatient floors will only have egress lighting and exit signs to illuminate an exit path off the floor.

Please plan to turning off computers and other electronic equipment when you leave for the weekend on Friday or no later than Saturday evening to avoid damage when the power is turned off and back on Sunday. You will not be able to remote in on your computer over the weekend if it is off. Most small UPS have battery capacity for less than an hour and will probably not last during this extended shutdown. Let staff know that they will not have power if they plan to come into work on Sunday April 13th.

Due to the length of the shutdown plan on emptying pantry refrigerators to avoid having spoiled food on Monday.

If you have any questions on what is affected in your area please email Duane Varquez (duane.varquez@uphs.upenn.edu) no later than noon on Monday April 7th for electrical questions and Dan Hazley (dan.hazley@uphs.upenn.edu) for HVAC questions.

Separate email will be sent for impact of shutdown on patient care units on floors 7 to 12 and plan for impacted Radiology services.
