Accommodations Policy and Procedure
Students in Need of Accommodation for Disability
Policy:
The Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) follows the University of Pennsylvania’s Guidelines for Addressing Academic Issues of Students with Disabilities, found here: https://catalog.upenn.edu/pennbook/students-with-disabilities/
Students at PSOM must meet the technical standards of the MD program. Technical Standards are found here: https://www.med.upenn.edu/admissions/technical-standards.html
Process:
A student in need of accommodations must contact the Student Disabilities Services (SDS) through the Weingarten Learning Center https://wlrc.vpul.upenn.edu/sds/. After a formal evaluation through SDS, reasonable accommodations will be determined. SDS will confer with the Office of Student Affairs, as appropriate.
If a student has received accommodations through SDS, SDS will inform the Director of the Office for Students Affairs, who will notify the student’s course/clerkship directors.
