Description of Itmat Expertise

(1) Comparative effectiveness research on intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography using large datasets; (2) Studying the impact of advanced echocardiography imaging on perioperative clinical outcomes; (3) Developing machine learning applications to echocardiographic images; (4) Incorporating echocardiographic data to improve the accuracy of existing clinical outcomes predictive algorithms.

Description of Research Expertise

My research expertise includes comparative effectiveness studies in echocardiography using large datasets and developing predictive algorithms using nonlinear, machine learning techniques. My work on the clinical utility and variability of intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in cardiac surgery has resulted in publications in leading clinical journals including: Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE) and JAMA Network Open. I have an ongoing interest in using data to study perioperative research questions in the field of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
