Description of Services

Please note: Prices given are for any academic client lab of the University of Pennsylvania and are subject to change. Prices in brackets are for DERC members and are subject to change. Prices for outside academic researchers are somewhat higher (please inquire).

  • Initial consulting for any project is free
  • Design of a targeting vector: $1,400 ($1,120). Additional fees for consultation for vector construction may apply, depending on the project.
  • Construction of a targeting vector (at the DNA Sequencing Facility) is payable by number and kind of cloning steps: usually about $3,500 - $4,500 ($2,500-$3,200; for details contact the DNA sequencing facility).
  • Electroporation and selection of ES cells: $4,800 ($3,630) for R1 ES cells (129 Sv x 129 SvJ) and TL1 ES cells (129 SvEvTac) or other 129 ES cells and $5,900 ($ 4,510) for C57B/6 ES cells
  • Isolation of genomic ES cell DNA from 96 well plates at the DNA Sequencing Facility: $200 per plate
  • Identification of homologous recombinant ES clones using PCR and/or Southern is done by the client lab. The core provides free consultation
  • Cytogenetic analysis of recombinant ES cell clones: $700 ($525) per clone
  • Expansion of homologous recombinant clones: $400 ($300) per clone
  • Blastocyst injection of ES clones is performed by the Transgenic and chimeric mouse facility at a cost of $1,250. Please consult their website for details for outside researchers.
