Description of Clinical Expertise

Clinical expertise

Dr. Mathews specializes in both geriatric psychiatry and women's behavioral health. She has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders as well as cognitive disorders in women throughout the lifespan. She has significant experience in the psychiatric care of the geriatric population, having completed a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry. She has also gained recognition as a North American Menopause Society Ceritified Practioner, with expertise in the care of postmenopausal women andt those going through the menopause transition. Another clinical focus of hers is the psychiatric care of women with mood and anxiety disorders in the perinatal and postpartum periods and women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

Dr. Mathews is board certified in Adult Psychiatry and is board eligible in Geriatric Psychiatry.

Other expertise

Dr. Mathews is involved in the supervision, teaching, and mentoring of college students, nurse practioner students, medical students and psychiatric residents and fellows in the areas of women's mental health and anxiety disorders.
