Description of Research Expertise

Establishing regenerative therapies to improve musculoskeletal healing using the horse as a model for human disease. Specifically, my research program is targeted towards developing gene and cell therapies to improve cartilage repair and prevent osteoarthritis; establishment of a chondrogenically superior mesenchymal stem cell source for treatment of chondral defects; elucidating the pathophysiology of posttraumatic osteoarthritis; and adeno-associated virus mediated overexpression of immunomodulatory cytokines in the joint.
