Description of Research Expertise

My research is centered around the pathophysiology and prevention of paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease) in cattle and other ruminants. I am interested in the antimycobacterial efficacy of gallium and other pharmaceuticals against Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP), and the chemoprophylaxis of gallium against MAP infection in neonatal calves. I am also interested in the effect/relationship of MAP infection on the intestinal microbiome of infected cattle.

Description of Clinical Expertise

My clinical interests are broad and encompass medical and surgical disorders of all types of farm animals, with special interest on cattle and small ruminants.
