Description of Research Expertise

Direct the EV Core with the mission to offer the UPenn community access to service, training and the appropriate instrumentation related to isolation and minimal characterization of EVs with the aim to encourage procedure standardization to maintain high standards in EV research.

• Manage all aspects of the laboratory, including capital acquisitions and service contracts, training and education related to EV Core Services and instruments, and quality assurance/control of instrumentation and processes.

• Communicate fees for service, assist in study design, website design, education (seminars), and updates through communications, maintaining expertise in the use of the facility and being available for assistance with planning experiments.

• Advise graduate students, Post-Doctoral Fellows, and Faculty at U Penn and outside U Penn about techniques and specific activities in the EV Core.

• Responsible for keeping track of all ongoing projects and make sure all protocols are properly documented and invoiced.

• Analyze the facility operating metrics.

• Assess the impact of developing technologies on current facility operations and present the recommendations to the PI (Dr. Andrew Hoffman). Advise the PI on future acquisitions and industry interactions, grant opportunities including grant writing for purposes of capital priorities, and direction of the EV Core with respect to scientific trends.

• Review and update the long-range plans, ensuring coordination between individual core plans and the core’s scientific mission.

• Encourage cross collaboration through the creation of a strong network of EV researchers both in the academia and the industry promoting sharing of rigorous, reproducible data following MISEV guidelines.
