Description of Clinical Expertise
I am a UCNS-certified behavioral neurologist specializing in the evaluation and management of cognitive disorders. My practice focuses on patients presenting with concerns about their cognition, with particular expertise in neurodegenerative disorders of language known as primary progressive aphasias, as well as cognitive and behavioral changes in patients with ALS. I also treat FTD-spectrum disorders, including behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia, corticobasal syndrome, and progressive supranuclear palsy, along with genetic neurodegenerative disorders and early-onset or atypical Alzheimer's diseaseDescription of Research Expertise
My research focuses on induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models of neurodegeneration, with a particular emphasis on the intersection between neurodegenerative disease mechanisms and neuroinflammation. I utilize iPSC-derived microglia models to investigate how innate immune dysfunction contributes to disease pathogenesis. A central focus of my work is ANXA11-related disease and TDP-43 proteinopathies, with specific interest in subtype C of TDP-43-associated neurodegeneration.Selected Publications
