Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Patterson has expertise in the care of patients with interstitial lung diseases, including sarcoidosis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, autoimmune-associated lung disease, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Specific clinical interests include pulmonary fibrosis from sarcoidosis and cardiac sarcoidosis. Dr. Patterson participates in several research studies related to interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis. In addition, she is the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Diagnostics Laboratory of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and teaches pulmonary physiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
