Training Opportunity

The ASERT, Eastern Region is pleased to offer the following training opportunity for Behavior Specialist Consultants (BSCs), Therapeutic Staff Support (TSS), Qualified Mental Retardation Professionals (QMRPs),  Program Specialists and Psychologists working with children, adolescents and adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD):

 

“Functional Behavioral Assessment and Treatment Plan Development”

Presented by ASERT, Eastern Region –Lehigh University Team

Curriculum developed by BAS Clinical Team

 

This two-day training will focus on assessment and replacement of challenging behaviors using a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and the development of a treatment or behavior support plan that can be used across settings.  Conducting an FBA will be required by Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP) providers and is recommended as part of the service description for behavioral services in the autism waiver.

 

Attendees working with children and adolescents are expected to have previously viewed the October 6th, 2006 training DVD “Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders,” which was mailed to BHRS providers in the spring of 2007. Please check with your provider before contacting us for an additional copy. Attendees working with adults are expected to have previously viewed the “Autism 101” training on the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) consulting website.

 

There is no fee for this training. Travel, luncheon, and hotel accommodations will not be provided. Participants are required to attend both full days in order to receive a certificate of completion and/or to apply for continuing education credits.

Blue Bell: Thursday, March 18, 2010 and Thursday, April 22, 2010

Lehigh Valley: Thursday, May 13, 2010 and Thursday, June 10, 2009 (Registration will open in April)

Scranton: Tuesday, June 15, 2010 and Thursday, July 15, 2010 (Registration will open in May)

 

Training Time

Registration: 8 a.m. – 9 a.m.

Training: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

 Continuing Education

 

BCBA/BCABA: The Bureau of Autism Services is approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board to offer continuing education for certified behavior analysts.  Each two-day program is being offered for 15.5 continuing education credits. BAS maintains responsibility for the program(s). BACB credits are only available to individuals who are board certified behavior analysts.

 

APA (Psychology): Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education maintains responsibility for the program. This program is being offered for up to 13 hours of continuing education.

 

LSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT (PA SBSWE Licensed Social Workers in Pennsylvania): This conference is approved for a maximum of 13 credit hours through a formal co-sponsorship agreement with the Bryn Mawr School of Social Work and Social Research. Bryn Mawr College, as a CSWE accredited school of social work, is an approved provider of continuing education for social workers in Pennsylvania and many other states.

 

NBCC (National Counselors): Drexel University College of Medicine is recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. We adhere to NBCC continuing education guidelines and can award a maximum of 13 hours of continuing education credit for this program.

 

PA Educators Act 48: Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education is recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to offer continuing education credits under Act 48 guidelines. Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education adheres to Act 48 Continuing Education Guidelines. PA educators will receive 13 hours of credit for attending this complete program.

 

PA Nurses: Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Participants will be awarded a maximum of 13 contact hours for attending this program.

 

CEU for all others:

Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, VA 22102.  In obtaining this approval, the Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education) has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standards which are widely recognized as standards of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education) is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standards.  Drexel University College of Medicine, Behavioral Healthcare Education is authorized by IACET to offer 1.3 CEUs for this program.
