Confidentiality

Penn Behavioral Health's Forensic Psychiatry Service administers all evaluations and services in compliance with ethical principles instated by the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

In accordance with the guidelines for the ethical practice of forensic psychiatry put forth by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, our experts are "bound by underlying ethical principles of respect for persons, honesty, justice, and social responsibility." Moreover, the Forensic Psychiatry Service ensures respect for the individual's right of privacy and the maintenance of confidentiality to the extent possible, given the legal context.
