Description of Research Expertise

Research Interests: Roles of the actin cytoskeleton in cell motility

Keywords: Actin cytoskeleton, electron microscopy, cell motility, lamellipodia, filopodia

Research Details: We employ correlative light and electron microscopy of cultured cells to understand the molecular and structural organization of the actin cytoskeleton driving different forms of cell motility, such as protrusion of lamellipodia and filopodia at the leading edge of migrating cells, formation of intercellular junctions and synapses, assembly of contractile actin-myosin bundles, and membrane trafficking.

Lab Personnel: Changsong Yang, Ph.D.; Farida Korobova, Ph.D.; Agnieszka Galinska-Rakoczy, Ph.D.; Roman Gorelik, graduate student; Matthew Hoelzle, graduate student.
