Description of Clinical Expertise
d0 I am a pediatric cardiologist with expertise in both general cardiology outpatient care as well as echocardiography. I treat pediatric patients with both congenital and acquired heart disease.71
Description of Research Expertise
30c My laboratory is interested in developing novel optical neuroimaging techniques to better understand pediatric neurodevelopment and its disruption by pediatric diseases (congenital heart disease, prematurity, stroke). Namely, we use widefield optical imaging (WOI) in mice and diffuse optical tomography (DOT) in large animals and humans to probe brain function. Our analysis methods focus on resting-state methods (e.g., functional connectivity) as a way to probe brain integrity at the bedside. We are also interesting in algorithm development, including new statistical methods to ensure rigor and reproducibility. We collaborate with many researchers at CHOP and Penn including biostatisticians, optical imagers, and labs that develop animal models of disease.e 29
