We are pleased to announce the formation of the Center for Transplant Science and Innovation (CTSI) within the Penn Transplant Institute.
Penn has a long tradition of leading Transplant science through basic and translational investigation. The development of the CTSI within the PTI will further these efforts through a collaborative multidisciplinary platform with surgical and medical partnership working to advance the field of transplantation by development of novel therapies that increase the organ supply and improve patient care. Further, the rich scientific community at Penn surrounding the PTI offers unique opportunity for collaboration with the Penn Institute for RNA Innovation, the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, and the Penn Institute for Immunology and Immune Health. The CTSI research effort will complement the strong clinical programs in the PTI that span all solid organs yielding further clinical advances and attracting support through the National Institutes of Health, foundation sources, and philanthropy. It is an incredibly exciting time for the transplant field with many innovative therapies coming on-line, and there is no better place than Penn Medicine to capitalize on these opportunities and champion this exciting effort.
