Welcome to Penn’s Medical Ethics and Health Policy Online Education Center, an informational, interactive hub for learning about and engaging in the Department’s online educational initiatives. Our online course offerings cover a breadth of topics and instruction styles, from free, stand-alone courses to rigorous, for-credit curricular series. These online initiatives bring together expertise in various health care perspectives—medical ethics, health policy, behavioral economics, health care operations, and health care innovation—in order to prepare professionals worldwide to navigate and lead change.

Why online education? A rapidly changing health care landscape requires advances in training for health care professionals. Through our online educational initiatives, the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy strives to transform the careers of those who transform health care, worldwide. Online education provides the opportunity for working professionals to encounter a unique combination of expertise and to connect with other problem-solvers on their own schedules, without having to set aside their jobs or travel to a campus or conference site to continue to learn.

The Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy is based in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Under the direction of the department chair, Ezekiel Emanuel, MD, PhD, the Department stands as one of the premier institutions of research and education in medical ethics and health policy in the world.
