Fees & Policies
Register for one or more of Penn's online Professional Development courses in Health Care Innovation today. We will send you an email reminder when each of your courses is about to begin.
Professional Development health care innovation courses cost $1,549 each. You may register for one at a time, however, a bulk discount is available if you pre-pay for 4 (or more) courses in a single transaction. The pre-pay discounted fee is $1,399.75 per course and is non-refundable. If you successfully complete 4 courses in 1 year, you will receive a Professional Development Certificate in Health Care Innovation. At the pre-pay discounted rate, the 4-course certificate is $5,599 total (a savings of $597). At the time of enrollment, you will be asked to pay in full using a credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa).

The discounted certificate pre-payment is non-refundable. However, you may be able to switch to another course within a designated time period. Contact the Program Manager if you need to discuss this option.
For full-price course enrollments, refunds are granted to those who drop the course within the first three weeks (courses are 8 weeks long). Please note that course weeks run Tuesday through Monday:

Earning the Professional Development Certificate
To earn a Professional Development Certificate in Health Care Innovation, you must successfully complete 4 courses within 1 year. This is a certificate of completion; professional development courses in health care innovation do not confer academic course credits. Thus, Professional Development Certificate courses cannot be counted toward the Master of Health Care Innovation degree. Learners who do not wish to earn the certificate may take one or more individual courses at their own pace.
Grading & Course Completion Policy
Professional development courses are structured in weekly modules. A typical module consists of lectures, readings, and a discussion; some courses include quizzes and interview videos, as well. In order to finish each module and move on to the next, you must complete all of the required work. Assignments have deadlines to help keep you on track, and you should contact the course TA to request an extension before the deadline, when needed. All coursework should be completed by the course's end date.
Courses are pass/no pass, allowing you to focus on practical learning. A total grade of 70% is required to pass. All written work is graded by course TAs using rubrics developed in consultation with faculty. Other elements of the course, including quizzes, are graded automatically. A course must be completed with a passing grade in order to count toward the Professional Development Certificate in Health Care Innovation. Professional development courses in health care innovation do not confer academic course credits. Thus, Professional Development Certificate courses cannot be counted toward the Master of Health Care Innovation degree.
