Welcome to the Kohanski Lab in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. There are several ongoing and exciting projects in the lab that complement the clinical focus on inflammatory diseases of the nose and sinuses within the Division of Rhinology here at Penn Medicine.

Our lab’s goals are:

1. To study the developmental pathways of nasal tuft cells and their role in epithelial inflammation in chronic sinusitis with nasal polyps.

2. To study mechanisms associated with malignant transformation of inverted papilloma.

3. To investigate the innate immune functions associated with Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD).

4. To translate our research into improved diagnostics and treatments for patients struggling with inflammatory nasal or sinus diseases.
