Machine Learning of Neuroimaging Data

Machine learning and pattern recognition techniques play increasingly important roles in the neuroimage analysis field. Aiming to provide tools that could classify individuals based on their individual neuroimaging data with sufficiently high sensitivity and specificity, as well as determining statistical group differences. we have developed a suite of neuroimage pattern recognition methods that automatically extract robust and discriminative imaging features from multimodal neuroimaging data for building pattern classifiers to distinguish subjects with brain disorders from healthy controls. These pattern recognition methods have been successfully applied to neuroimaging studies of schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, early prediction of cognitive decline, and deception detection.
