CVI Research Description:
1. Ventricular remodeling
Characterization of the right and/or left ventricular response to pulmonary hypertension, infarction, and valvular disease using MRI, echocardiography and PET/SPECT techniques in pre-clinical models and clinical disease states.
2. Developmental cardiology
Assessment of cardiac morphology and function using MRI and echocardiography including slp-76, HOP, and N-cadherin transgenic models. Use of MRI, CT, and echo in the evaluation of adult congenital heart disease.
3. Stem cell tracking
Evaluation of stem cell localization after intravenous injection or intracardiac implantation of stem cells co-labeled using MRI and PET ligands. Assessment of stem cell survival and myocardial viability/function following stem cell treatment of post-infarction or other cardiomyopathies.
4. Plaque characterization
Evaluation of MRI and PET techniques for assessment of atherosclerosis in pre-clinical models of disease.
