Founders Professorship in Hepatology

K. Rajender Reddy, MD

Dr. K. Rajender Reddy, MD is the inaugural Founders Professor in Hepatology at the Perelman School of Medicine. He also serves as Director of Hepatology and the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation. 

Dr. Reddy is an internationally known expert in liver disease from both a clinical and a research perspective. He earned his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, and pursued further medical training at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center and the Michael Reese Hospital. He joined the Perelman School faculty in 2001 and has held visiting professorships at medical schools throughout the world.

Among his research interests, Dr. Reddy is currently investigating targeted treatments and new biomarkers for viral hepatitis and other liver diseases that are often precursors to cancer. He serves on the editorial boards of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and many other journals, and is the author of more than 400 papers.
