The Alissa Reiner McCreary Professorship in BRCA Excellence

McCreary photoThis Professorship was established in memory of Alissa Reiner McCreary, who passed away in 2016 at the age of 49 from BRCA-related pancreatic cancer. Alissa was an inaugural member of the Basser Center Advisory Board and a passionate volunteer and supporter of the Basser Center for BRCA. To those who knew and loved her, she was so much more: a loving mother and devoted wife, a beloved daughter who was civic-minded and kind, a voracious reader and a world traveler. In 2020, Trace McCreary, Alissa’s widower and Peter and Harlan Stone, her stepbrothers, generously established an endowed professorship to assist in the recruitment and retention of distinguished faculty members at the Basser Center.

Trace McCreary is a real estate investor and developer based in Vero Beach, FL and St. Simons Island, GA. He is the founder, President and CEO of Varden Capital Properties. Trace has served as a member of the Basser Center Advisory Board since Alissa’s death.

Harlan Stone is the Chief Executive Officer of HMTX Industries LLC, a privately-held global new materials flooring company and a leader in luxury vinyl tile manufacturing. He is currently a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania. Harlan is also a member of the Abramson Cancer Center Innovation Advisory Board, a member of the Penn Engineering Board of Advisors, Chair of the Penn Engineering Technical Advisory Board, and a volunteer with the Penn Alumni Interview Program.
