MECHANISMS OF NEURONAL INJURY AND NEUROPROTECTION
INSC 600-002

W/F 2:00-3:30 pm; 1st half of Spring 2007
This course will be offered during the first half of the spring semester in 2009. Stay tuned! Or contact us if you want to receive information when the time comes.

Module Overview

A bench-to-bedside presentation of the molecular mechanisms of acute nervous system injury, therapeutic strategies for intervention, and clinical applications of neuroprotection.

Module Goals

Most sessions will discuss: a) mechanisms of injury; b) targets for therapy and past clinical trials; c) development of future treatments via new clinical trials.

Assigned Readings

Papers from the primary literature will be assigned weekly and be presented by teams of students during the Friday course sessions. There will be no lecture on these days. Students in the class, as well as instuctors, will fill out the presentation feedback form to give the presenters helpful comments about their presentation.
