Description of Research Expertise

Basic science: Role of intracellular calcium dysregulation on neuronal apoptosis and neurodegeneration, autophagy, synapse, cognitive dysfunction, depression and anxiety psychiatric disorders, in neurodegenerative diseases, especially in Alzheimer's Disease, stroke, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Mechanisms of anesthesia mediated dual effects of neuroprotection and neurotoxicity, especially in the developing brains and in Alzheimer's disease.

Clinical science: Clinical use of Supraglottic Jet Oxygenation and Ventilation (SJOV) to maintain oxygenation/ventilation in patients with respiratory depression or apnea, especially during difficult airway management, emergent airway management rescue.
