Welcome to the Wei Lab

At the Wei Lab, our primary focus lies in decoding the brain's calcium regulatory pathway and applying this expertise toward understanding and treating Alzheimer's Disease (AD).

Alzheimer's disease is a neurologic disorder characterized by brain atrophy and neuronal apoptosis, which leads to a progressive decline in cognition, memory, behavioral, and social skills. AD is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and the number one cause of dementia in older adults, representing a progressively more pressing challenge to families, health care systems, and economies. We seek to understand its root causes and mechanisms using various in vivo and in vitro models in order to develop effective pharmacological therapies for the treatment of AD patients.
