Description of Research ExpertiseMy laboratory is interested in the mechanobiology of development and regeneration. We study how mechanical cues influence morphogenesis, growth, adaptation, and repair, and how these physical stimuli can be used to engineer functional tissues. We are currently focused on the molecular mechanisms that control cellular mechanosensation during bone and blood vessel development and on creation of tissue engineering strategies that recapitulate these mechanisms for tissue regeneration.
Current projects in the lab include:
1. Mechanotransductive feedback control of cytoskeletal dynamics
2. Mechanical regulation of vasculogenesis
3. Transcriptional control of bone development, adaptation, and repair
4. Mimicking development for tissue engineering
5. Mechanical stimulation of endochondral bone regeneration
