Description of Research Expertise

DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF CLINICAL TRIALS AND OBSERVATIONAL STUDIES WITH A FOCUS ON SELECTION BIAS AND GENERALIZATION; ETIOLOGY OF CHILDHOOD NEUROLOGICAL ILLNESSES AND CONDITIONS; PREMATURITY; AIDS; CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. ELECTED FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN STATISTICAL ASSOCIATION, THE SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL TRIALS, AND THE AAAS, AND AN ELECTED MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL STATISTICAL INSTITUTE. SERVED AS PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAN STATISTICAL ASSOCIATION IN 1999 AND THE INTERNATIONAL BIOMETRIC SOCIETY IN 1988.

Description of Itmat Expertise

Dr. Ellenberg engages in biostatistical analysis of validity and inferential viability/generalizability in clinical research, including bias arising from patient selection and subjects lost to follow-up, uniformity of methods of assessment across centers in multicenter studies, missing data and completeness of reporting, barriers to access to enrollment pools in observational studies, and intention to treat analysis in clinical trials.
