Description of Research Expertise

Description:

The Novais laboratory research focuses on how environmental signals determine CD8 T cell function. We are particularly interested in how cutaneous infection with the protozoan parasite leishmania influences the phenotype CD8 T cells exhibit during disease. Currently our laboratory is interested in addressing three major questions:

1) How does oxygen availability determine CD8 T cell function?

2) What are the transcription factors involved in CD8 T cell phenotype in different tissues?

3) How does the skin microbiota influence CD8 T cell function?
