Hearing Loss and Aging: New Methods of Diagnosis and Treatment

luncheon

James Saunders

James Saunders will focus on the occurrence and identification of hearing loss in the elderly. He will present evidence to support the fact that hearing loss is an inherent, universal process of aging. (This will hardly be a surprise for most PASEF members!) Current medical procedures as well as the use of new hearing-assisted technologies will be explained.

Dr. James C. Saunders is Emeritus Professor of Research Otorhinolaryngology in the Perelman School of Medicine. He received the Claude Pepper award for research excellence in 1988 from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. The author of over 300 publications, Professor Saunders is also a well-known advocate for issues involving hearing loss in the elderly.
