Kai Tan, PhD
Kai Tan, PhD
Dr. Tan earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from Beloit College and his Ph.D. in Computational Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his postdoctoral training in Systems Biology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Tan is currently a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He holds the Richard & Sheila Sanford Endowed Chair and serves as the Director of the Center for Single Cell Biology. Dr. Tan’s laboratory integrates experimental genomics, molecular biology, and computational modeling to uncover how transcriptional regulatory and signaling networks govern embryonic hematopoiesis, T cell differentiation, and pediatric cancers.
Research Interests
Use of bulk, single-cell, and spatial omics technologies to dissect how cellular heterogeneity and plasticity contribute to CAR-T cell therapy efficacy, resistance, and toxicity.
