Photography Protocols

Protocols for fundus photography and fluorescein angiography vary according to the study goals.  The Scheie Image Reading Center has a general photography protocol [PDF, 368KB] designed for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) studies.  This general photography protocol includes procedures for submitting film images or digital images to the Reading Center.

As part of the photography protocol, photographers must meet specific certification requirements and the digital imaging equipment must meet certain standards.  For information on photographer certification and digital imaging equipment certification, click here.

For the Comparison of Age-Related Macular Degeneration Treatments Trial (CATT) photography protocol incorporates the Modified 3-Standard Field Color Fundus Photography and Fluorescein Angiography Procedures and Digital Fluorescein Angiography Supplement already established for multiple clinical trials by the University of Wisconsin Fundus Photograph Reading Center (UW-FPRC).  Click here to be linked to the UW-FPRC.
