Services Provided by the Scheie Image Reading Center

The Scheie Image Reading Center (SIRC) has developed and implemented systems for acquiring and evaluating digital and film fundus images (color stereoscopic photographs and fluorescein angiography). The role of SIRC in clinical trials and epidemiological studies includes establishing eligibility of patients enrolled, monitoring compliance with treatment protocols, characterizing effects of treatment, and describing natural history. The role of SIRC also includes developing and deploying certification programs for investigators, photographers and readers for specific study protocols.
