Central Research Services Team
The DOM CRS team is a group of analytical research finance professionals who enjoy clinical research finance and play an important role in the groundbreaking and highly meaningful clinical research that happens here at the University of Pennsylvania. The team was founded in 2009 by Susan Wahl, whose innovation, leadership, knowledge, and determination built a strong foundation that has continued to thrive.

Tim has 25+ years of experience in the accounting field in both academia and commercial industries. He has been at Penn for 12+ years, all with the DOM CRS unit, overseeing operations of both Pre- and Post-Award for clinical trials within the Department of Medicine. He supervises a team of financial analysts who manage clinical trial portfolios for 80+ investigators from 9 divisions. He hopes to continue the CRS legacy by providing a complete and growing product to support clinical research in the Department and School.

Chris joined the CRS team in 2013. Since then, he has gained expertise in all financial aspects of Pre- and Post-Award management of clinical trials. Chris’s portfolio includes financial management of a large investigator-initiated multi-site clinical trial, and a key part of his role in the CRS unit is to help train new financial analysts.

Matt is a Financial Analyst and joined the CRS team in July of 2022. He has worked in finance since 2016, ever since graduating from the University of Scranton with a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration. Matt hopes to gain a variety of skills and knowledge in the clinical trial space and further his career and education at the University of Pennsylvania.

Danielle joined the CRS team in Spring 2026, bringing a strong foundation of adaptability, dedication, and teamwork. She earned her MBA from Holy Family University and spent 13 years as a Financial Analyst with the U.S. Navy. Known for her positive work ethic and collaborative approach, Danielle combines strong communication and organizational skills with a disciplined mindset. She excels at building relationships, staying organized, and keeping projects moving forward. Danielle takes pride in contributing to a positive team environment and is dedicated to supporting the continued success of the organization.
Brandon Williams

Brandon has been a Financial Analyst with the CRS team since May of 2026. He previously worked as a researcher and team lead in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and educational industries for over 10 years, before receiving his MBA in 2025 from the University of Delaware. There, he focused on studying healthcare management and improving his financial knowledge. Brandon aims to be an asset to CRS by bringing his existing skills and learning new ones.

Amanda has been working in clinical research at Penn since 2005 and has broad experience in a diverse range of therapeutic areas. She has extensive experience in all aspects of clinical research and leads both the DOM Central Research Services unit and the DOM Clinical Trials Unit. She has served on the Penn IRB as well as on numerous advisory committees and task forces to improve clinical research and human subjects protection. She brings her entrepreneurial spirit to the team and specializes in Research Operations, Strategy, Process Improvement, and Mentoring.
