The Voorhees Presidential Professorship

placeholderA gift from the estate of Valerie Voorhees (1927-2020) and a contribution from the Kane Fund established this Professorship in 2021. Ms. Voorhees was the daughter of Earle W. Voorhees, MD (1897-1988), a 1922 graduate of the Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Voorhees was an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist who was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology. Ms. Voorhees, a graduate of the Bender Laboratory of the Albany College of Pharmacy, worked with her father in his practice serving the community of Poughkeepsie, New York, for many years.

Presidential Professorships are awarded to exceptional scholars of any rank who will contribute to the diverse experiences, perspectives, and eminence of Penn faculty. They were established in 2011 to strengthen the University’s ability to recruit, retain and mentor distinguished scholars who are preeminent in their fields and have demonstrated a commitment to sustaining an inclusive and vibrant academic community.
