The Wilmott Family Professorship

Timothy Wilmott

Timothy Wilmott and his wife, Dr. Nancy Barna, established the Wilmott Family Professorship to support the clinical and research pursuits of a gastroenterologist at the Perelman School of Medicine.

The family also established the Timothy J. Wilmott and Dr. Nancy Barna Center for Endoscopic Innovation, Research, and Training at Penn Medicine. The Wilmott Barna Center is the first in the nation dedicated to training future gastroenterologists and promoting excellence in endoscopic research.

A Wharton graduate, Mr. Wilmott is President and Chief Executive Officer of Penn National Gaming and the former Chief Operating Officer of Harrah’s Entertainment. Dr. Barna attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and she serves as a member of the Abramson Cancer Center Director’s Leadership Council.

Michael L. Kochman, MD, AGAF, FASGE

Michael L. Kochman, MD, AGAF, FASGE is the Wilmott Family Professor and Professor of Medicine in Surgery in the Gastroenterology Division at the Perelman School of Medicine and Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Michigan. Locally he has served on multiple committees and directs regular and advanced endoscopy training. He has received teaching awards for the education of fellows and residents and nationally he was named “Master Endoscopist.” He frequently speaks at national and international meetings and serves on the faculty for hands-on training courses. Dr. Kochman has published over 225 articles and chapters and a number of videos. He is Editor for Techniques in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and has edited 19 published books, including The Clinician’s Guide to Gastrointestinal Oncology, Advanced Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Endoscopic Oncology: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Cancer Management.
