About the PI

Dr. Fan earned his MD from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1999 and his PhD in Pathology from Case Western Reserve University in 2009. After completing postdoctoral training in vascular biology at the Cleveland Clinic, he joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, where he has advanced to the rank of tenured Professor. His research centers on uncovering the regulatory mechanisms governing tissue vascularity and immunity in disease progression, with the overarching goal of developing innovative therapies to reprogram the tissue microenvironment for treating cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
