April 2026 – Alen Cieslukowski was awarded the Guggenheim Family Neurosurgery Fellowship, and Nathan Yu received a Spring 2026 Louis H. Castor, M.D., C’48 Undergraduate Research Grant. Congratulations to both on these outstanding achievements.
Angela DiMauro, a research specialist in our lab, has accepted an offer to pursue her PhD at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. We are very proud of her for reaching this important career milestone.

January 2026 - The Hambardzumyan Lab is excited to welcome first-year Perelman School of Medicine medical student Alan Cieslukowski to the team.
December 2025 - A new publication led by the outstanding Montse Puigdelloses Vallcorba, PhD, is now out in JCI. In this study, we developed mouse models of both germline and somatic MMR-deficient high-grade gliomas, identified a role for MMR genes in tumor growth and temozolomide resistance, and present KL-50 as a potential therapeutic avenue. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41433099/
November 2025 - Kavita and Tanvi presented posters at the 30th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology and 7th Quadrennial Meeting of the World Federation of Neuro-Oncology Societies, held in Honolulu, Hawaii, from November 19–23, 2025. The meeting provided an excellent forum for sharing their research, receiving constructive feedback, engaging in conversations, and embracing the spirit of aloha to keep the scientific conversations flowing!
