Psorcast Study

Smartphone sensor-based, patient-driven detection of PsA (Now recruiting)

Type

Observational

Purpose

Approximately one-third of people with psoriasis (PsO) will develop psoriatic arthritis (PsA), yet we lack definitive biomarkers to diagnose and detect when the earliest PsA symptoms emerge. The purpose of this study is to allow patients to frequently self-measure their psoriatic disease to bridge the gap in understanding of the transition from PsO to PsA and overcome barriers contributing to delayed diagnosis.

The aim of the Psorcast Study is to develop and validate a smartphone app that integrates digital, clinical, and laboratory data to facilitate early diagnosis of PsA and generate personalized PsA risk forecasts.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you:

  • Are aged 18 or older
  • Have been diagnosed with psoriasis (PsO) and/or psoriatic arthritis (PsA);
  • Are considering making a change to your treatment plan
  • Own an iPhone running iOS 12.2 or later

Participation

You will be followed over the course of 3 months including two usual in-person clinical visits. Between your clinical visits, you will complete weekly questionnaires and digital assessments in the Psorcast app.

The digital assessments include walking with your phone in your pocket to assess gait, rotating your phone to simulate opening a jar, and identifying areas where you currently have psoriasis plaques or joint pain.
