PsOWell Study

Use of telemedicine to address “off-target” symptoms in psoriatic arthritis

Type

Interventional – additional telemedicine visits

Purpose

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory arthritis associated with substantial joint stiffness, pain, and diminished function. Significant advances in treatment have reduced the burden of disease, but many people continue to have residual symptoms of disease activity while on treatment. These symptoms may involve non-musculoskeletal conditions such as pain, fatigue, disrupted sleep, other medical conditions, or lifestyle factors, which add additional layers of complexity to regular clinical care.

The purpose of this study is to use a holistic approach to manage these “off-target” disease symptoms in a personal way during structured telemedicine visits with a nurse or nurse practitioner. The goal of this personal, symptom-directed care is to improve disease impact and help achieve remission.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you:

  • Are aged 18-89;
  • Have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (PsA);
  • Have been on stable treatment for PsA; and
  • Still have some disease activity.

Participation

You will be followed over the course of 4-6 months at your usual clinical visits. Between your clinical visits, you will complete two telemedicine visits with a nurse or nurse practitioner.

You will complete questionnaires throughout your participation to tell us how you’re doing.
