SAGE Study

Sex- and gender-based analysis of the effectiveness of advanced therapies for psoriatic arthritis (Recruiting Soon)

Type

Observational

Purpose

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory musculoskeletal disease that leads to diminished physical function and reduced ability to participate in social- and work-related roles. Advances in treatment have reduced complications of joint inflammation, but many people do not achieve optimal results. Sex and gender are important determinants of sub-optimal response to advanced therapy in PsA.

The purpose of this study is to understand the biological and socio-cultural mechanisms underlying the sex and gender disparities in response to treatment. The goal is to develop individualized approaches to optimize the management of men and women with PsA around the world.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this study if you:

  • Are aged 18 or older;
  • Have been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (PsA);
  • Have some symptoms of active disease; and
  • Are ready to change or start advanced therapy for PsA.

Participation

You will be followed over the course of 3-6 months after starting a new advanced therapy for PsA, with full skin and joint examinations at your regular clinical visits.

You will complete questionnaires at the beginning of the study related to sex, gender, socio-demographics, and lifestyle. You will also complete questionnaires throughout your study participation to tell us how you’re doing before and after starting treatment.
