Our Method

Project selection prioritizes feasibility and impact to patient-care.

Potential areas of improvement are identified from multiple inputs: retrospective data from the department’s quality assurance analysis, the health system’s mission and goals, and QSIG members themselves, based on their work as on-the-ground clinicians.

QSIG’s work is informed by Lean Methodology and Penn Medicine’s Foundations in Performance Improvement.

A graphical depiction of QSIG's phase-based methodology that spells out "focus pd sa." Phase 1: Focus; Phase 2: Organize, Clarify; Phase 3: Understand, Select; Phase 4: Plan, Do; Phase 5: Study; Phase 6: Act
