Events

The Hearing Research Center hosts several events throughout the year:

• The monthly E.A.R.S. (electronic auditory research seminars) series hosts two speakers on monthly basis online. We started this series at the height of the pandemic in 2020, and it grew to 1000+ attendees. We added a session featuring talks by trainees and a career development session once a semester.
• Auditory SPLASH is a conference for auditory neuroscientists from the East Coast. Our goal is to feature talks by starting assistant professors and presentations by trainees, and to build a collaborative and friendly atmosphere. We held it in 2018 and 2023 on Penn campus.
• Weekly auditory journal club meets on Friday mornings in Stemmler Hall. Each week one of our trainees presents a paper of their choice, and we pick it apart. If interested, please email xiaomao.ding@pennmedicine.upenn.edu to get on the list.
• Additionally, we participate in the weekly MINS seminar which happens on Wednesdays at 4 pm and the bi-weekly CNI seminar, which Maria helps organize.
