Research Description 

The broad objective of Prof. Trauner’s research is to demonstrate the awesome power of chemical synthesis and to use it toward the precision control of biological pathways, especially in neuroscience.  He is a pioneer in Chemical Optogenetics, Photopharmacology, and Synthetic Physiology, and has made significant contribution to the biosynthetic elucidation and chemical synthesis of complex, bioactive natural products.
