Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I blocked from downloading files stored in OneDrive to my computer?
Due to strict security policies, Penn Medicine O365 users cannot download One Drive files devices that are not managed by UPHS or are connecting from the UPHS and PSOM wired networks. PMACS users may store a file in Penn Medicine O365 but will not be able to download them at a later time. PMACS currently recommends saving your Microsoft Office files locally to your device, to your PMACS fileshares, or to PennBox. If you accidentally save files to OneDrive and cannot access them, please submit a helpdesk ticket.
I am using a University service, such as Zoom or Box, and my email address needs to be in the pennkey@upenn.edu format. How can I be sure I'm receiving email notifications from these services?
Whenever a new PSOM faculty, staff or student is set up with a Penn Medicine email account, PSOM puts in place a rule to forward incoming email from your pennkey@upenn.edu to your Penn Medicine email address. You can test this yourself at any time by emailing your pennkey@upenn.edu and confirming you receive the test email address.
The only exception to this rule is if you already have another Penn email address associated with your pennkey@upenn.edu. Students and employees who previously attended courses or were employed in another part of the University may have a legacy pennkey@upenn.edu email address in the University. Also, some PSOM faculty, staff and students have both Penn Medicine and University of Pennsylvania mailboxes. If you are unsure or need assistance, please submit a helpdesk ticket.
