Our Initiatives
In addition to providing web support and design services to the Perelman School of Medicine, our team is involved in several ongoing initiatives:
New MODX Rich-Text Editor with Accessibility Checker
We have rolled out a new rich-text editor on our newer and future MODX sites called TinyMCE. This editor includes a built-in accessibility checker that will alert website publishers to accessibility issues related to their content such as missing alternative text or improper use of headings. All website content must comply with Penn’s Web Accessibility standards, and this tool should help ensure that our websites meet those standards. We have also created new training modules in Workday for all new and existing MODX site publishers.
Date of rollout: April 2024 (new sites only), available on other sites by request
"SSFlex 2.0"
While we have been making ongoing improvements to our self-serve offering, SSFlex, we are planning for more significant changes in the coming months, complete with updated themes, more flexible layout options, an improved rich text editor, and built-in assistance to help our publishers create fully accessible website content that meets the University's standards.
Estimated date of rollout: late 2024
