Dr. Goncharova joined Airways Biology Initiative (ABI) in 2001 as a postdoctoral fellow. Her research interests are in the cellular and molecular mechanisms of smooth muscle cell remodeling, growth and motility as it relates to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), asthma and COPD. The main focus of Dr. Goncharova's current research is defining the role ofmammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and specific roles of mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1) and mTORC2 in vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and pulmonary vascular remodeling in PAH.
