Welcome to the University of Pennsylvania Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Core!
Our Mission
The mission of the Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Core is to provide the necessary resources and expertise to allow investigators to perform state-of-the-art studies of metabolism in rodent models.
A brief view of what we do:
- Indirect calorimetry
- Stable isotope infusions
- Hypersulinemic-euglycemic clamps
- DSI implantable telemetry monitoring
- Body composition analysis
Who can use the RMPC?
- Any researcher! We run experiments for graduate students, postdocs, staff scientists, and principle investigators at UPenn, outside academic institutions, and industry too.
Interested in using the RMPC for your study?
- Email a brief description of your proposed study to our Technical Director, Corey Holman at holmanc@pennmedicine.upenn.edu
- To use our services, every core user must sign up for an iLabs account for billing: https://med-upenn.corefacilities.org/landing/264
We love working with our model organisms: mice and rats!
- Rodents have served as important models for human diseases and our understanding of diabetes, obesity and other metabolic disorders has increased tremendously as a result of dietary and genetic manipulations in these animals. The RMPC has over 25 years running studies in rodents and is eager to assist with your rodent-related experimental needs!
If you want to schedule an experiment, please reach out to our Technical Director, Corey Holman at holmanc@pennmedicine.upenn.edu
The Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Core is part of The Institute for Diabetes, Obesity, & Metabolism in the Smilow Center for Translational Research.
