Here is How to Post a Job:
- First, a memo needs to be created that describes:
This memo must be reviewed by the Chair and senior BA, and approved before the job requisition process can begin.
If the memo is approved, the Hiring Officer completes a Position Information Questionnaire (PIQ) and submits it to the departmental BA for entry into the HR Manager Electronic Requisition System. The Hiring Officer should communicate to their BA whether the position is new, reclassified, or a replacement.
If the position is a replacement position, a copy of the resignation letter is required (if the employee resigned).
The BA inputs information from the PIQ into the HR Manager Electronic Requisition System ((the text of the approval memo should also be pasted into the notes section of the job requisition in HR Manager, if possible).
The job submission in the HR Manager Electronic Requisition System is reviewed by SOM Finance, and if approved forwarded to SOM Compensation.
SOM Compensation classifies the position by assigning an official university title, grade and job class code.
SOM Recruitment & Staffing posts the position on The Penn Online Employment System and emails the Hiring Officer with the position title, the location of the job on our website, and instructions on how to use our job board to review applicants.
- How and why the position or action is critical and directly attributable to maintaining the core mission and operation of the School, Department or Center.
- The immediate and long term impact of not filling the position or approving the action at this time as well as an explanation of the planned funding source(s).
