Areas of Special Interest

I am interested in using cell and molecular biology tools in combination with engineering principles to create more physiologically accurate models of human disease. I have a particular interest in smooth muscle disorders of the bowel, bladder, and uterus that cause debilitating visceral myopathies. I hope to understand the mechanobiology underpinning these diseases and develop high-throughput platforms to identify new therapeutic strategies to treat these conditions. Outside of science and medicine, I enjoy cooking, hosting dinner and movie nights for my friends, and reading/watching science fiction and fantasy.
